Running through all the lessons is a baptismal current, emphasizing the way God has put to death our enemies - the devil, the world, and our sinful flesh - and brought life to His children through the power of His Word by means of water. The Old Testament stories of God saving His people through water are linked to God saving us in the New Testament through the water of Holy Baptism.
